Westoe Cottage: sleeps 2

In May 2017 we finished renovating this 17th century cottage and I am sure you will enjoy what we have created.

Tucked away in the quiet Cumbrian village of Skelton, Westoe cottage is perfect if you are looking for somewhere special to relax and recharge your batteries or discover this stunning part of the UK. The small pretty market town of Penrith and stunning Lake Ullswater are only a short drive away. The busier lake district town of Keswick is only 30 minutes drive. With easy access to the M6 motorway 6 miles away, guests can soon start enjoying their holiday without hours of driving. This is excellent for short weekend breaks, if you want to split the journey to/ from Scotland or a last minute escape to the country.

The 17th century cottage is light, bright and contemporary yet retaining much of the original rustic character and features as possible.  Converted from a stable and feed store for the attached property many years ago, this cute and quirky building is a perfect get- away for 2.

The cottage door opens onto an open plan lounge complete with large Ercol sofa. There is a fully-equipped kitchen area with a good size table for dining. Then climb the old stable stairs to the bedroom with king size bed and bespoke oak open storage shelving. Complemented by a country style bathroom with full size bath complete with overhead power shower. By providing most essentials for your stay as listed, all you will need is food of your choice and personal toiletries. You won't need to pack the kitchen sink, especially useful if travelling from abroad!

Outside is a small paved cottage garden with chairs and table. Guests are welcome to bring and use their own barbecue. There is parking for one car.

A short walk to the village pub serving delicious home cooked food (open Wed - Sun evening) means eating out is an easy option or a special treat as part of your holiday.

If you are looking for a lovely contemporary cottage in a traditional Cumbrian village with a pub close by, then I think Westoe Cottage is definitely worth a try.
